Smoke Relay

English

It was in 1937, when Edwige's grandparents opened a butcher's shop on Avenue de la République that the future "Relais du Fumé" began to gain the loyalty of its first customers. Twenty years later, the Javaux “push the walls” by doubling the sales area. In 1973, Pierre (the son) took over the business: alongside his wife Marie-Thérèse, he gave new impetus to Maison Javaux, with smoked products which quickly made the brand's reputation.

In 2013, it was the next generation (Edwige and her husband Frédéric) who took over the management of the Relais du Fumé. The couple strives to keep the family spirit and perpetuate the tradition of homemade products. The charcuterie is prepared in an artisanal way, and smoked with fir and juniper. Over the years, various distinctions have been awarded to certain Relais du Fumé specialties: hams cooked on the bone (bronze medal 2014), dry sausages (gold medal 2015), Comtoise rillettes (gold medal 2015), etc.

Today, the boutique is still one of the must-see addresses in the Pearl of Jura. Arranged under a warm framework, the splendid sales space is worth the detour in itself! In addition to cold meats, a selection of hand-picked products (delicatessen, tableware, gifts, etc.) allows you to create pretty personalized boxes. The store is also renowned for its themed windows, which attract passers-by throughout the year and especially during the holiday season.

On your way out, be sure to take a look at the magnificent trompe l'oeil fresco that decorates the adjoining alley.
