Pleasures of the table

Gourmet route n°5

Champagnole

In the heart of the territory, it is in Champagnole, the “Pearl of the Jura”, that a gourmet itinerary in four stages is taking shape to offer lovers of local gastronomy tasty local products…

The Smoked Relay

In 2013, Edwige and her husband Frédéric took over management of the Relais du Fumé. The couple strives to keep the family spirit and perpetuate the tradition of homemade products. The charcuterie is prepared in an artisanal manner, and smoked with fir and juniper. Over the years, various distinctions have been awarded to certain Relais du Fumé specialties: hams cooked on the bone (2014 bronze medal), dry sausages (2015 gold medal), Comtoise rillettes (2015 gold medal)…

Today, the boutique is still one of the must-see addresses in the Pearl of the Jura... In addition to the charcuterie products, a selection of hand-picked products (delicatessen, tableware, gifts, etc.) makes it possible to create pretty personalized boxes. . The store is also renowned for its themed windows, which attract passers-by throughout the year and especially during the holiday season.

The Janin Cheese Factory

Our “gourmet route” then goes up Avenue de la République to the Janin cheese dairy. It is in the purest family tradition that the store was taken over by Marc in 2008, who won the title of Best Worker in France, creamer-refiner – the only one in the region – and is joined in the family business by his brother, Mathieu.

It is with passion and rigor that the two cheesemakers strive to select quality products from small producers scattered across the four corners of France. These gastronomic treasures are then matured, many of them, in the cheese factory's maturing cellar, thus benefiting from the “paw” of Maison Janin.

More than 150 cheeses, whether from Jura or not, can be discovered with the personalized advice of Marc and Mathieu: Comté, Morbier, cancoillotte, bleu de Gex, Mont d'Or and raclette obviously feature prominently, as do different mountain tommes (from Jura, Savoie or the Pyrenees, etc.), goat cheese or Roquefort, etc.

Delicacies and Company

Passionate about pastry for many years, Mélanie Plantard created the company “Gourmandises & Compagnie” in 2010. Initially, she set up a small workshop at her home to make delicious chocolates.

Since 2020, the great adventure has continued in Champagnole, in an 80 m² laboratory where Mélanie is expanding the development of her activity and imagining new recipes. A whole range of tasty confectionery and delicate homemade praline chocolates is handmade on site every day: crispy or melting chocolates of all kinds, delicately praline bars, caramels, tender calissons, meringues, crunchy sesame biscuits, honey or nougats. savagnin… Without forgetting the essential “Jurassien Cloud” and “Chocomallow” – exquisite light marshmallows coated in fine dark or milk chocolate… Enough to thrill your taste buds!

Mélanie shows off her delicacies on Saturday mornings at the Champagnole market. It is also possible to place an order online or by “click & collect” with collection on site from the workshop.

elixia

Created in 1856 by Champagnolais Faustin Girardet, Elixia lemonade is one of the oldest artisanal lemonades in France.

In the space of fifteen years, millions of bottles have left the Pearl of the Jura to travel throughout France and abroad...

If Elixia owes its success to a recipe that has remained unchanged since its creation, organic lemonades have also found their audience. These artisanal drinks with unique tastes are made from natural products, without artificial colors or flavors.

In the classic, organic, natural or flavored version, Elixia appeals to consumers more than ever... So... Do we fall for the fir, plum, chocolate or... 24-carat gold version? A glass of pure lemonade, or paired with a cocktail or mocktail?

Numerous points of sale in Champagnole and the surrounding area (supermarkets, cheese cooperatives, etc.)
