Gourmet route n°8

Les Planches-en-Montagne > Chaux-des-Crotenay > Le Frasnois

Between the Langouette gorges, the Hérisson waterfalls and the “4 lakes” site, a gastronomic journey in four stages is taking shape and will thrill the taste buds with its delicious local products… Let’s resist everything, except gluttony!

In the Land of Sweets

Our journey begins in the heart of the peaceful village of Planches-en-Montagne, meeting Isabelle Bavoux, an experienced biscuit maker and caterer who offers her delicious certified organic creations every day. It is in the workshop adjoining her home that Isabelle makes crispy and tender biscuits with flavors of yesteryear.

For twenty years today she has lived from her passion. In the interest of excellence and in order to guarantee tasty, quality products made from hand-picked ingredients, the biscuit maker has chosen to limit the number of its specialties.

Currently, five varieties of small cakes from its range are available: madeleines, “grandmother's” shortbread, coconut rocks, nut and almond macaroons, and hazelnut and chocolate cookies… At the same time, it also makes chocolates as well as chutneys, and offers “catering” services (vegetarian cuisine).

All of Isabelle's products are available to order, or on sale in various stores in the region such as the "Biocoop" in Champagnole, "L'Épicerie d'Ici" in Chaux-des-Crotenay and some fruit shops in the surrounding area.

The GAEC of Langouette

The route continues in the immediate vicinity, on a family farm managed since 2007 by three partners who produce delicious dairy products.

Since 2008, Florence, Maxence and Julien have been marketing a subtle soft pasteurized milk cheese, “Le Langoureux”. Fresh "Les Langoureuses" dishes to be enjoyed savory or sweet are also available, as well as thirteen varieties of flavored or fruit farm yoghurts. Great classics to which have been added two “new ones”: the delicate “Tomme de la Langouette” and the “Tartinettes”, creamy spreadable cheeses, with garlic and fine herbs or tomato and basil.

At the end of the day, the three operators happily welcome visitors and introduce them to life on the farm, milking and caring for young animals. The visit ends in the farm store where you can do your little market. GAEC products are also available for sale in several stores in the region (detailed list on the farm's website).

The GAEC “Aux P’tits Bonheurs”

It was in 2020 that Émilie and Arnaud Jacquin decided to take over the GAEC “Aux P'tits Bonheurs”, an operation specializing in the manufacture of food products made from fruits and aromatic and medicinal plants.

Each year, Émilie and Arnaud cultivate a large part of their production and devote themselves to picking in the woods and meadows of the territory.

They transform fruits and plants directly in their workshop into multiple 100% organic “little joys”: fruit jams, syrups, herbal teas, dried aromatics, plant jellies, dried mushrooms, pickled mushrooms, garlic pesto bears, flavored vinegars…

Present in the surrounding markets, Émilie and Arnaud also welcome customers, by appointment, in their sales area. The numerous products in their range are also available all year round in several stores in the area: in Chaux-des-Crotenay (L'Épicerie d'Ici) and in Champagnole (Biocoop, Janin cheese shop and the Multi Shop).

The Comptoir des Cascades

A few kilometers further, last stop to end this gourmet itinerary: it is in the town of Frasnois, at a place called “La Fromagerie”, that a store with a thousand and one treasures awaits you.

At “Comptoir des Cascades”, you will inevitably find what you are looking for: Aude and Anthony Negrello carefully select numerous quality regional products, which worthily represent local gastronomy. Jura wines, cheeses and dairy products, charcuterie, artisanal lemonade, delicatessen, bread, pasta, biscuits, chocolates, ice creams, honey... Wisely recommended by Aude, who knows her products like the back of her hand, you can treat yourself by making a basket filled with local specialties.

At the “Comptoir des Cascades”, we make a point of offering a selection of the best in the region in terms of taste. Many of the products are labeled “organic”.

After a refreshing visit to the Hérisson waterfalls located nearby, a break is essential at the Comptoir des Cascades, to soak up the warm atmosphere of this space with its woody tones and discover all the flavors of the region.
