Gourmet route n°3

Les Planches-en-Montagne > Foncine-le-Haut

In the Saine basin, a gourmet itinerary in four stages allows you to fill your basket with fresh, local and tasty products...

The GAEC of Langouette

First stop in Planches-en-Montagne on a family farm managed since 2007 by three partners who produce delicious dairy products.

Every day, more than 2 liters of milk are produced by the hundred Montbéliardes at GAEC de la Langouette. Part of the production is directly transformed on site: since 000, Florence, Maxence and Julien (the operators) have marketed a delicious pasteurized milk and soft cheese, “Le Langoureux”. Fresh faitselles to be enjoyed savory or sweet, “Les Langoureuses”, are also offered. Thirteen varieties of flavored or fruit-flavored farm yoghurts are also made in the farm's processing workshop. Great classics to which have been added two “new ones”: the delicate “Tomme de la Langouette”, an uncooked pressed cheese, and the “Tartinettes”, a creamy spreadable cheese.

At the end of the day, the GAEC welcomes visitors with warmth and simplicity: they discover life on the farm, milking and caring for young animals.

The Fromagerie des Rebelles

In the heart of Foncine-le-Haut, the Fromagerie des Rebelles owes its name to the farmers who decided, in 2007, to regain their independence and directly manage their cheese cooperative.

Eight farms, located around the fruit farm, produce quality milk while respecting responsible and environmentally conscious agriculture. Every evening, the milk is collected to be sent to the cooperative and processed according to the rules of the art. La Fromagerie des Rebelles produces around ten wheels of Comté cheese every day.

Completely renovated a few years ago, the cooperative store beautifully highlights the Jura region by offering a wide selection of regional products. The sellers advise you on your choices among the many foods available, each more appetizing than the last: the unmissable Comté, Morbier, raclette, Jura tommes and many other cheeses typical of the region such as “Petit Mournier » !

The flavors of Mont Noir

The route continues a few meters further to “Saveurs du Mont Noir”, a butcher-charcuterie-caterer which makes delicious local specialties, entirely homemade. Passionate about his profession, René Pommier has worked for around twenty years, with his team, to offer for sale – in addition to traditional meat – terrines, sausages and Franche-Comté cold cuts.

René Pommier is one of the only artisanal salt makers in the region, and favors ancient processing and preparation techniques, respectful of the products he sells. Committed to promoting the local economy and guaranteeing the quality of its products, it works with local breeders to source beef, veal, pork or even lamb which will be used in the production of its specialties.

The products sold in the store are also available in some nearby fruit shops and regional produce shops and in certain markets in the area.

Toines Honey

To end this gastronomic wandering in style, go to “Miel des Toines”, a point of sale designed by Jean-Yves Toinard in the heart of the village of Foncine-le-Haut. Since 2001, this professional beekeeper has been producing exceptional honey from the product of his 250 hives installed in the Jura: from Foncine-le-Haut to Pont-du-Navoy via Crotenay, Censeau or Nozeroy…

Passionate about his job, he puts the well-being of his little “workers” at the forefront. By bringing a little happiness to his customers with his quality products, he wishes to convey his passion for sustainable agriculture, and more particularly for beekeeping.

At “Miel des Toines”, there are no less than nine different varieties that will delight your taste buds: spring honey, creamy and fruity; acacia honey, very sweet; bramble honey with blackberry notes; dandelion honey with digestive properties; linden honey, very fragrant; mountain honey or even fir honey… and the rarest raspberry honey and maple honey.

Other treats based on beehive products are also offered.
