Nozeroy, the City of Chalons

The small medieval town of Nozeroy has a cultural and historical wealth which makes its visit unmissable. Ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, it is an old fortified town. The ruins of the 13th-16th century castle, the 13th-15th century church, the Clock Tower and the Nods Gate, etc., are the main picturesque points.

Also known as the “City of Chalons”, it can be visited in different forms. A discovery trail also addresses, through six illustrated panels, themes as diverse as history, religion, agriculture, water in the Pays de Nozeroy, or even the exploitation of the yellow stone of Molpré.

Equipped with just your smartphone, you can wander freely all year round while discovering the richness of the local heritage thanks to the twelve QR codes to flash, scattered throughout the city.

For budding investigators, two booklets (8-10 years and 11-13 years) allowing you to familiarize yourself with the history of Nozeroy in a fun way using games and puzzles, are on sale at the Maison du Tourisme, at the Nozeroy office.

And, if you want something more complete, a dramatized visit presented by the troupe of actors “Va-t'en-Rêves” as well as a historical guided tour carried out by the association of “Vieux Amis du Pays de Nozeroy » are organized every week in the summer.

The Calvaries of the Country: around forty ordeals located in the different municipalities of the country are distributed along a route. Each ordeal has its own story and some are worth the detour like that of Molpré. Precise information is given in the church of Nozeroy.
