Church of Saint Germain l'Auxerrois

Parking

The Saint-Germain church in Mièges, recognizable by its architecture and the blondness of its stone (the famous “yellow stone” from the old quarries of Molpré), houses important furniture dating from the end of the Middle Ages. Destroyed several times and rebuilt with the help of residents, it stands out in the landscape.

Its bell tower, previously topped with a double dome, was destroyed during a fire in 1839 and restored with a roof terrace surrounded by four statues, unusual in the area. We find on all sides of the building, several decorative elements of the Gothic style and the Renaissance era which very vividly evoke daily life in the 15th century.

The association “Val de Mièges: safeguarding and promoting heritage”, created in 2022 with the aim of promoting and raising awareness among the population about the heritage of its “Val”, works for the preservation of this ancient masterpiece by offering visits guided tours and various activities allowing its restoration, every Friday at 14:30 p.m. from April to September.
