The land of five rivers
Welcome to the “Land of five rivers”: located at the birth of the Upper Ain valley, the territory benefits from high quality water, and its rivers are all classified in the first category: the Ain, of course, but also the Angillon, the Lemme, the Saine and the Serpentine.
Fisherman's paradise
A true fishermen's paradise, all types of fishing are practiced there, even if its white waters particularly encourage fly fishing. The creation of a “no kill” course (the fish must be returned to the water), very appreciated by the younger generations and which has an active reserve function, attracts more and more fishermen to the Champagnole and from Crotenay. This year, a new route is being set up on the Ain in Bourg-de-Sirod.
Fishing in calm waters
As for fans of other techniques, they will turn to the numerous ponds and lakes in the area which allow you to catch gudgeon, bleak, carp, tench or pike. On Lake Chalain and Lake Ilay only electric motors are authorized by municipal decree.
In order to maintain good understanding between the different users of the lakes, strictly respect the locations of the vehicles. On Lake Chalain, access is chargeable during the day during the summer period.
Fishing documentation
Specific “fishing” documentation is available in the three offices of the Tourism House (Champagnole, Nozeroy and Foncine-le-Haut).
